Autre’s Spring 2019 issue takes a fascinating twisting and turning ecological journey that explores artists’ relationship to our current fragile ecosystems and zeitgeist. Tom Sachs and Vito Schnabel converse about surfing and the myth of Swiss neutrality. Los Angeles-based artist, Ariana Papademetropoulos visits the last living surrealist, Pedro Friedeberg in Mexico City. We interview legendary performance and video artist, Joan Jonas, and multidisciplinary composer and choreographer, Meredith Monk. Rising actor, Buddy Duress describes how to do voiceovers while incarcerated, and record producer, John Carroll Kirby talks about working with Solange and Karl Lagerfeld. We also spoke to photographer, Susan Ressler about her exploration of corporate Los Angeles in the 1970s. Isabelle Albuquerque plays dress up at the landmark Bob Baker Marionette Theater. Photographer CG Watkins takes us on a strange and violent cinematic journey through snowfall in London, and Joseph Kadow shoots a gorgeous fashion story at twilight outside of Berlin styled by the brilliant Toby Grimditch.
