Over the course of 2020, Brad Phillips and Gideon Jacobs wrote a 12-chapter "serial novella" for Autre. Written in the style of the Exquisite Corpse, chapters were published on a monthly basis with the authors alternating each month. Rather than discussing plot, structure, format, themes and characters, the authors opted to react to each other's work with the hope that the final Frankensteinian product is something that deserves to exist.

Gideon Jacobs lives and works in Queens, New York, writing for publications about photography, art, sex and culture in publications such as The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, Playboy, VICE, BOMB, Autre and others. He is currently working on a collection of short fiction.

Brad Phillips is a contemporary Canadian artist and writer. He is best known for his work around subjects like mental illness, suicide, fakery, addiction and pop culture. His first book of short stories, Essays and Fictions, was published by Tyrant Books in 2019. And his first novel, You Don't Have to Die will be released in 2023.
