Virtual auction house Paddle 8 is currently holding a sale to support Friends In Deed. The sale includes a number of recognized artists and works from the Friends In Deed archive, including some stunning photographs by David Armstrong, Cecil Beaton, Robert Mapplethorpe, Bert Stern and more. Friends In Deed is a crisis center providing emotional and spiritual support for anyone with a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS, cancer or other life-threatening physical illnesses, any caregivers, family and friends of those who are ill, and anyone dealing with grief and bereavement. All of their services are free of charge. Bidding is now open and ends April 8th at 3pm EST (sign up or registernow to access bidding).

Autre celebrated its Spring/Summer 2024 ‘Levity’ issue with a very small and intimate soirée in the private dining bar of Fasano directly facing Central Park. This incredible image of the Earth rise was taken during lunar orbit by the Apollo 11 mission crew in July of 1969. The first manned lunar mission, Apollo 11 launched aboard a Saturn V launch vehicle from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on July 16, 1969 and safely returned to Earth on July 24, 1969. Since the 1990s, Jeffrey Gibson has been weaving his own Native traditions and queer history with pop cultural references—particularly song titles, into kaleidoscopic textile works, paintings, videos, and performances. A member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and of Cherokee descent, he is the first Indigenous artist to represent the United States with a solo presentation at the Venice Biennale. His exhibition at the US Pavilion, the space in which to place me, takes its title from Oglala Lakota poet Layli Long Soldier’s poem e Sápa. Gaetano Pesce (1939–2024) “The time of copies is behind us. We are in a time of originals.” Very sad to hear the news of Pesce’s passing, a legendary architect and designer with a meteoric influence on design, both in practice and theory.
