Sylvie Fleury’s final performance of Instructions for Twilight high up in the WSA building overlooking downtown Manhattan. One of our highlights of the year was getting to collaborate with @performanyc on occasion of their 20th anniversary. The biennial, founded by @roseleegoldberg in 2005, described as a “museum without walls,” has for the past two decades been a champion of the live, theatrical arts. Top moment of 2025: Labubu doll Karl Marx’s grave 2025 was a blockbuster shit show, so it’s no surprise that Labubu dolls—created by Hong Kong artist Kasing Lung—took the world by storm. Like the soft-survival, recession-core talismans of past crises—Beanie Babies, Hello Kitty—Labubu emerged as a cute yet faintly terrifying emotional hedge against insurmountable darkness and uncertainty. The phenomenon reached its most on-the-nose climax when someone placed a Labubu doll on Karl Marx’s grave in Highgate Cemetery. The weed growing, weed smoking enclave of nuns that inspired Sisters Of The Brave Beaver in Paul Thomas Anderson’s electrifying One Battle After Another; featured in Autre’s SS23 Utopia Issue.
