Sarah Ellison Studio Releases The Float Sofa At The Iconic Stahl House In Partnership With Design Within Reach

Inspired by the conversation pits of the 1970s, Australian designer Sarah Ellison’s FLOAT sofa—available in a rich Pantone brown called Piccolo or a bouclé fabric—was fêted high above Sunset Strip at the iconic Stahl House. Speaking to Ellison at the famous Case Study House #22, she remarked on how wonderful the clash was between her obsession with 70s aesthetics and mid-century mod. VFILES and Mountain Dew are teaming up to release a collection for Spring/Summer 2017. The camouflage heavy collection, featuring Mountain Dews' iconic green, elevates outdoor gear through innovative wearable tech like body-cameras and personal-audio system technology. Titled "Camo Out," the range includes track suits and jackets that play music, baseball caps that are fitted with cameras, and backpacks that are fueled by solar power. This incredible image of the Earth rise was taken during lunar orbit by the Apollo 11 mission crew in July of 1969. The first manned lunar mission, Apollo 11 launched aboard a Saturn V launch vehicle from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida on July 16, 1969 and safely returned to Earth on July 24, 1969. Since the 1990s, Jeffrey Gibson has been weaving his own Native traditions and queer history with pop cultural references—particularly song titles, into kaleidoscopic textile works, paintings, videos, and performances. A member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and of Cherokee descent, he is the first Indigenous artist to represent the United States with a solo presentation at the Venice Biennale. His exhibition at the US Pavilion, the space in which to place me, takes its title from Oglala Lakota poet Layli Long Soldier’s poem e Sápa. Gaetano Pesce (1939–2024) “The time of copies is behind us. We are in a time of originals.” Very sad to hear the news of Pesce’s passing, a legendary architect and designer with a meteoric influence on design, both in practice and theory.
