Highlights From Frieze London 2018 @ Regent's Park

Frieze London 2018 showcased the best of international contemporary art, with a discerning selection of around 160 galleries presenting their most forward-thinking artists and imaginative presentations. This year’s themed gallery section, Social Work featured women artists who challenged the status quo and explored the possibilities of political activism in their art making during the 1980s and ‘90s, from Nancy Spero in the US to Berni Searle in South Africa to Ipek Duben in Turkey and Helen Chadwick in the UK. Solo, group and curated presentations across the fair’s sections featured John Baldessari, Michaël Borremans, Zadie Xa, Lubaina Himid, Mary Kelly, Moshekwa Langa, Calvin Marcus, Jim Shaw, David Shrigley, Josh Sperling, Tatiana Trouvé, Hardeep Pandhal, Athena Papadopoulos, Faith Ringgold, Wong Ping and Cathy Wilkes, among many others. photographs by Flo Khol

David Shrigley @ Anton Kern Gallery In New York

In his sixth solo show at Anton Kern Gallery, British artist David Shrigley presents 78 drawings, two sculptures and one animation. The drawings, ink and acrylic on paper in two distinct sizes, depict a variety of situations involving humans, animals, parts of their bodies and other stuff. The sculptures are of two oversized objects, a subtractor (a calculator with limited function keys), and a working telephone that is hooked up to the gallery’s main phone line. The animation in the back gallery is a drawn and slightly altered version of the Sega arcade game, Out Run. Early Man @ The Hole Gallery

The Hole presents a group exhibition entitled Early Man. Taking early art making (as in Upper Paleolithic) as a jumping off point, artists in this show use various strategies to create meaning, from the barely rudimentary to the highly sophisticated. Some of the artists include Aurel Schmidt, David Shrigley, Bruce High Quality Foundation, and more. Early Man will be on view until December 28 at The Hole Gallery, 312 Bowery, New York. 

David Shrigley Gets His First Major Exhibition in Australia

David Shrigley- Life and Life Drawing _ national gallery of victoria

National Gallery Victoria presents David Shrigley: Life and Life Drawing, a comprehensive exhibition – his first major survey in Australia – of new and recent work by the internationally renowned Glasgow-based artist. Shrigley has developed a cult following for his stripped back, darkly humourous and deliberately crude drawings that explore existential dramas, human dysfunction and anxiety. David Shrigley: Life and Life Drawing will be on view until March 1, 2015, at National Gallery Victoria, 180 St Kilda Road Melbourne, Australia

Musique Plastique at Agnès B

Now open at Agnès B's Howard Street gallery an exhibition entitled Musique Plastique, a group exhibit "exploring the ongoing interaction between the visual arts and music." Curated by Jean François Sanz, the show will feature music-themed pieces by the likes of Jean Tobias Bernstrup, Hisham Bharoocha, Etienne Charry, Brian DeGraw, Daniel Johnston, Jonas Mekas, Thurston Moore, David Shrigley, Alan Vega, Ben Vida and Liz Wendelbo.
