The Eye, featuring 256 images from 83 of the best photographers in the world, is a vibrant photo book that interprets the evolution of the field. Opening June 1st in Los Angeles, Helmut Newton's Sex & Landscapes, a series created in collaboration with the late artist’s wife and collaborator, June Netwon, features 20 of his so-called “sex pictures” — glamorous, seductive shots of women in various states of undress and seductive performance — and 20 landscapes.  Helmut Netwon: Sex and Landscapes, opens on June 1 at Perry Rubenstein Galleryat 1215 N. Highland Avenue.

Paris, Portrait of a City is Taschen publishers new, vivid history of the capital of love and photography. A city built on two millennia of history, Paris is entering the third century of its love story with photography. It was on the banks of the Seine that Niépce and Daguerre officially gave birth to this new art that has flourished ever since, developing a distinctive language and becoming a vital tool of knowledge. Paris: Portrait of a Cityleads us through what Goethe described as a “universal city where every step upon a bridge or a square recalls a great past, where a fragment of history is unrolled at the corner of every street”. Aristocratic, the online gallery of limited edition art photography, presents an exhibition entitled (Un) dressed - an exploration of the nude in photography from 900 until today. The exhibit is an exploration, not so much of the nude itself, but of the evolution of  the nude - "women in their complexity" seen through the eyes of major Italian and international photographers in the last century such as Edward Weston, Helmut Newton, Karl Lagerfeld, Hideki Fujii, Nan Goldin, Araki and Maurizio Galimberti. Helmut Newton Solo Show, Selected Works

Helmut Newton was born Helmut Neustädter in Berlin in 1920 to a German-Jewish button-factory owner and an American mother.  He started his photographic career at sixteen working for renowned Berlin photographer Iva. From there, after immigrating too and traveling back from Australia, he photographed fashion for Vogue and other  magazines developing a style that is both instantly recognizable and imitable. An exhibition in London, at the Hamiltons Gallery, includes a selection of rare prints, polaroids from famous photoshoots from Newtons oeuvre, many rare or never seen before.  Helmut Newton 'Selected Works' run until May 15. www.hamiltonsgallery.com
