Ariana Papademetropoulos and Nicolas Godin of @airfrenchband for AUTRE SS26 “Surveillance” Nicolas Godin, one-half of the French duo Air, created a soundtrack for a strange new millennium. @arianapapademetropoulos is an American artist whose first solo exhibition in France, Glass Slipper at @thaddaeusropac , features dreamlike, reality-defying paintings. The show centers on Water Based Treatment, an experiential aquarium sculpture featuring a shoal of kissing fish and a score by Godin, inspired by 1970s ambient sound therapy tapes. Free from the burden of the public gaze, which now shapes behavior and censors expression, young people could experiment with identity, fashion, and style without being consumed by algorithmic monoculture. In 1958, Swiss photographer Karlheinz Weinberger (1921-2006) turned his lens to the Halbstarken, meaning “half- strong,” a rising anti-authoritarian teenage subculture that rode motorcycles and tore up concert halls in postwar Zurich.
